The Museum of Industrial Olive Oil Production on Lesvos island has been recently added to the Network of Museums of the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP). It was inaugurated on September 15th 2006, by the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Carolos Papoulias, in presence of the President of the Board of Directors of the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation, Mrs. Sophia Staikou, the President of the Education and Culture Committee to the European Parliament, Mr. Nikos Sifounakis, the Minister of the Aegean, Mr. Aristotle Pavlidis and the Minister of Culture, Mr. George Voulgarakis.

It is actually housed at the old communal olive-pressing complex at Agia Paraskevi on Lesvos which has been converted into a multi-functional museum. It is refurbished in order to articulate a museum of itself, where the olive-pressing installations are displayed under the best museological standards and the olive-oil production process is clearly presented.
